On this day in 1861, a Wild West legend was made when the man pictured below confronted a young stockyard worker named Bill Hickok who been involved in a secret romance with his mistress. The man threatened to give bill a thrashing, to which Bill responded, "There'll be one less son of a bitch if you try that." The man advanced anyway, and Bill shot him in the chest and winged two of is associates. Later reports embellished the story, crediting the young gunslinger with killing nine men and nicknaming him "Wild Bill." Prior to that day, Bill had another nickname, which the dead man below had used to taunt him. What was that nickname?
